NSC FOOTBALL CLASSIC
August 21-23, 2008
The fifth annual NSC Football Classic is a unique football experience. The Classic provides teams, 4th-8th grade, with the opportunity to jump start and prepare for their upcoming football season. Teams of all levels and affiliations will play three officiated games in an attempt to become a better, more cohesive team for the season.
2008 Event Schedule
- » August 8: Application and team fee deadline
- » August 13: Required Forms and player fees due
- » August 15: Schedules posted online
- » August 20 & 21: Final team check-in and weigh-in
- » August 21 & 22: First and second games played
- » August 23: Final games played
Event Features
- » Competing at the internationally recognized National Sports Center
- » Three-game guarantee
- » Four quarters, 12-minute running clock, time will be stopped in the final two minutes of each half
- » Parity in level and weight will be used when scheduling when possible in the Preseason Division
- » Crews of two or three referees will be used
- » All players receive a gift
- » NEW! Games will be played Thursday, August 21, Friday, August 22 and Saturday, August 23
- » NEW! Thursday and Friday games will begin at 3pm or later (if possible)
- » NEW! Designated “Game of the Day” played under the lights on Thursday and Friday
Divisions
- » Preaseason Division: 4th - 8th Grade
- » NEW 4th grade division
- » Teams will be matched up against teams within same age group and similar weight (if possible)
- » No scores will be kept. Empahsis on teams getting practice for the season.
- » Three game guarantee
- » Bowl Division: 7th – 8th Grade Only
- » NEW for 2008
- » Teams placed into a bracket. Winners advance to winners bracket and losers to consolation bracket
- » Teams are randomly seeded into bracket within their age group.
- » Team trophy for championship Teams
- » Space is limited. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis
Matchups
Each team is required to submit a team roster with each player's name, position, date of birth and weight. All players will be required to show proof of age and weigh-in at Final Team Check-in to validate team roster data submitted by coaches
- » Preseason Division
- The Preseason Division strives to provide every team with three competitive football games. Teams will be matched up against rosters of similar age and weight.
- » Bowl Division
- Teams who sign up for the Bowl Division will be randomly seeded into a bracket within their age group. Weights will not be taken into consideration when scheduling.
Team Eligibility Age Group Classifications
- » 4th Grade: Born on or between July 1, 1998 to August 15, 1999
- » 5th Grade: Born on or between July 1, 1997 to August 15, 1998
- » 6th Grade: Born on or between July 1, 1996 to August 15, 1997
- » 7th Grade: Born on or between July 1, 1995 to August 22, 1996
- » 8th Grade: Born on or between July 1, 1994 to August 22, 1995
Ball Carrier Weight Limits
Weight restrictions are placed on all offensive skill positions that carry the football (QB, RB, WR and TE). Players over these weights are not allowed to carry the ball.
- » 4th Grade: 120 lbs or less
- » 5th Grade: 130 lbs or less
- » 6th Grade: 140 lbs or less
- » 7th Grade: 150 lbs or less
- » 8th Grade: 160 lbs or less
Fees
- » $130 team fee due with application for Preseason Division
- » $180 team fee due with application for Bowl Division
- » PLUS $27 per player fee
- » Refund Policy: Teams dropping from the tournament will not be refunded the team fee; individual player fees will be refunded. Teams will receive a voucher valid for 2009 tournament, which may be used by any team in any age group within the club.
