VELODROME RIDER OF THE YEAR

TROY is a rider ranking system based on race finishes throughout the NSC Velodrome season.

Riders

  • »  TROY points will be scored for Cat 1/2 men and all women riders.
  • »  Men’s and women’s fields will be scored separately.
  • »  Cat 3 and Cat 4 men will have their upgrade points tracked instead of being included in TROY.

Races

  • »  Only Thursday night races will be scored.
  • »  Masters-only, RADIUS, State time-trial and match sprint races won’t be counted.

Scoring

  • »  The top six finishers in each race will earn TROY points, but there are field size requirements.  Half the field will score points up to a maximum of six places.  If the field size is eight, TROY points will be awarded to the top four (4 points for first, 3 for second, 2 for third and 1 for fourth).  If the field size is an odd number, the race will be treated as if there is one more person racing (e.g., with nine racers the top five will earn points with 5 points for first).
  • »  Cat 3 riders (men) can earn TROY points if they score points in a Cat 1/2/3 race.  No points will be given for upgrading from Cat 3 to Cat 2.
  • »  If needed at season end, a tie-breaker will be based on placing in State Championship events held on Thursday nights.
  • »  In Madison races, field size requirements also apply.  Each rider from a placing team will earn points.
  • »  Races will be scored as follows (assuming a field size of 11 or greater):
