INTRODUCTORY TRACK CLASSES
The Introduction to Track Cycling Class is designed for those riders 15 years old and over with little or no bike racing experience and experienced road riders new to the track.
Class Features
- » Structured, progressive, hands-on experience in the skills and strategies required for track riding.
- » Experience the fun and exhilaration of track cycling in a controlled atmosphere.
- » Primary focus on learning the basic skills and proper techniques to ensure safe and efficient riding on the track.
- » Participants instructed in position, drafting, acceleration, pedaling technique, steering vs turning, as well as proper track etiquette necessary for group riding and racing on the velodrome.
- » Students exposed to the different types of races held at the velodrome.
2008 Class Schedule
All classes will be from 6:30 pm to dusk. EXCEPTION: Special Cat 4 class will be at 4:00 pm.

- » Session Four: Aug 5, 12, 19, 26
- » Special Cat 4 Class: May 11, 18
Fee
$80.00 including bike rental and helmet if needed. A season training pass is available for $50.00 for those who successfully complete the class (normally $100).
Equipment
A fixed gear track bicycle and ANSI approved bike helmet is required. Both are available on loan from the NSC for those without their own. Cycling shoes, pedals, shorts and helmet are required. Participants should bring their own cycling shoes and pedal system to install on the NSC’s rental track bikes.
Other Riding Options
Upon completion of the class the rider should be able to take part in open training sessions or structured workouts on the velodrome ($10.00 per session or with a season pass). Racing on the track is done under permit of the United States Cycling Federation and requires a USCF license ($60.00. Juniors $30.00). Entry in most races is $15.00 but may vary.
