BLAINE, Minn. (February 19, 2010) – Item 1: NSC Minnesota Stars, the new professional soccer team that will play at the National Sports Center in Blaine, have opened ticket sales for the 2010 season.

The Stars will open their home season on Saturday, April 24 vs. the Tampa Bay Rowdies at 7:00 pm at the National Sports Center Stadium. The 2010 season features 15 home games, with the final regular season home game on September 18.

There are several different season ticket packages available, including a Stars Supporters package that includes seating in a reserved section and a Stars Supporter scarf. Most season tickets packages will be sold on a “flex” basis, that allows holders to use all 15 tickets at once, one per game, or in any combination of the owner’s choosing. For $50, youth fans 14 and under can purchase “The Pass,” which is a general admission ticket to each of the 15 home games, an average of $3.33 per game.

Single game ticket prices range from $6 for youth (14 and under) general admission to $30 for pitchside seats.

Complete ticket information is available by calling 763.792.7355 or visit: www.nscminnesota.org to order tickets online and see the entire season game schedule.

Item 2: In other NSC Minnesota Stars news, the team announced the signing of Brian Cvilikas, a forward from Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Cvilikas grew up in Colorado, where he was an All-State player for Highlands Ranch High School. He played his college soccer at Old Dominion University from 2002-2005, and he was the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year in 2005 and led the CAA in scoring with 30 points and 15 goals.

After graduating, the MetroStars (since renamed the New York Red Bulls) drafted him in the third round (26th overall) in the 2006 MLS draft, and he played with the reserve team that year. In a three-year professional career, he played with the Virginia Beach Mariners of USL-1 in 2007, Wilmington Hammerheads of USL-2 in 2008, and most recently with the Minnesota Thunder in late 2008 and 2009. With the Thunder in 2009, he scored six goals and appeared in 32 games.

(On NSC) “It’s a great place to play, they’ve got such a great facility, and the fans create a great atmosphere to play here,” said Cvilikas.

Cvilikas is the third player signed by the Stars, joining Johnny Menyongar and Andrei Gotsmanov on the roster of Minnesota’s newest professional franchise.

“Both Johnny and Andrei are great players,” said Cvilikas. “I feel privileged to be in their company here as the third signing with the Stars.”

NSC Minnesota will play in the twelve-team United States Soccer Federation (USSF)-sanctioned division-2 professional league. The league will consist of two six-team conferences – the USL Conference and the NASL Conference. The USL Conference will include teams from Austin (Tex.), Minnesota, Portland (Ore.), Puerto Rico, Rochester (N.Y.) and Tampa Bay. The NASL Conference will consist of teams from Baltimore, Carolina, Miami, Montreal, St. Louis and Vancouver.
