Blaine, Minn. (October 27, 2006) – The game schedule has been released and teams announced for the 2006 World Broomball Championship at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, October 30-November 4, 2006. The Schwan Super Rink is located on the campus of the National Sports Center.
This marks the seventh time the World Broomball Championship has been held. The Schwan Super Rink hosted the World Championships once previously, in 2002. In addition to the National Sports Center, the event has been held three times in Victoria, B.C., Canada, and once each in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland, Canada, and Bolzano, Italy. The International Federation of Broomball Associations sanctions the tournament, and the tournament is held every two years.
Teams will be attending from five different countries – U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia and Italy. Twelve Minnesota teams are represented. Championship games will be played in six different divisions: Men’s North American Cup, Men’s Challenge Cup, Women’s Challenge Cup, Men’s World Cup, Women’s World Cup, Mixed World Cup.

Wednesday, November 1: Preliminary round games, 7:30 am – 5:30 pm, Schwan Super Rink, National Sports Center.
Thursday, November 2: Preliminary round games, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Schwan Super Rink, National Sports Center.
Friday, November 3: Quarterfinal games, 8:00 – 11:00 am; Semifinal games, 1:00 – 8:50 pm, Schwan Super Rink, National Sports Center.
Saturday, November 4: 8:00 am, North American Cup championship; 9:00 am, Mixed Final Challenge Cup championship; 10:00 am, Women’s Final Challenge Cup championship; 11:00 am, Men’s Final Challenge Cup championship; 12 noon, Mixed Final World Cup championship; 1:00 pm, Women’s Final World Cup championship; 2:00 pm, Men’s Final World Cup championship. A full-week spectator tournament pass will be available for $25. Daily tickets are priced at $5 for Monday’s opening ceremonies and for preliminary-round games on Tuesday through Thursday. Daily tickets for playoff games on Friday and Saturday are priced at $7. Children 12 and under are half-price. Tickets will be available at the door.
